Hey hockey fans, who else is fired up about Olympic hockey in just a year’s time?!

We’re not sure if anyone’s ever been this excited for the tournament given the NHL was forced to sit out of the last tourney, but the past is the past and all eyes are focused on 2022, specifically on the team north of the border. There’s so much talent to choose from, but who will ultimately make the cut?!

Our very own Craig Button gave roster projection of his own and there are some names that certainly pop off the page. Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon are all gimmes… but Bowen Byram? We love the guts here, Craig!

Craig’s picks definitely align with what general manager Doug Armstrong appears to want on his team. 13 of the players are 26 or younger, and there could even be more than based on his latest comments.

So there some notable snubs here. John Tavares didn’t quite make the cut and Drew Doughty, who was a rock for Canada in 2010 and 2014, isn’t anywhere to be seen either. Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn also did not cut it. Time will tell what the eventual team looks like but this is definitely something to think about.

Thoughts?
