San Jose Sharks players just received a brand new teammate.
On Thursday afternoon, The San Jose Sharks announced they had acquired defenceman Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators in a package deal. In return, Ottawa received current players, prospects and draft picks.
Wow… who saw this coming? After the Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars each made an aggressive push, it was San Jose who managed to step up and grab this summer’s prize. After discovering the news, his new teammates took to Twitter to welcome him to the squad.
That Burns-Karlsson sauce is going to be out of control! And seeing these dudes man a power-play with Logan couture, Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton is going to be something else, too. Speaking of Jumbo, we’re pretty sure he had the best reaction of anyone to the trade.

With Karlsson, it’s tough to argue that San Jose isn't the team to watch in the NHL right now. Ottawa, on the other hand, might not see their return pay out for another couple of years.
