Surprise, surprise everyone! Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid is in the midst of another ridiculous statistical season. With that said… he doesn’t seem to care all that much about it.

Heading into last night’s 8-4 Oilers win over the Los Angeles Kings, McJesus was on the verge of passing his career high in points with 108, so logically he was asked about surpassing his previous total with just games left in the season. The 22-year-old, who’s set to miss the playoffs for a second consecutive season in Edmonton, used one miserable word to answer a reporter’s question regarding it.

“Whatever.”

Sound a little more excited Connor!

Hours later, McDavid went on to surpass his total with 1 goal and 3 assists, setting a new career high at 112. It’s remarkable to think that he ranks second in the league behind Nikita Kucherov (121) despite the Oilers ranking 20th in goals for (218) and having the 23rd worst record in the league. He’s contributed on more than 50% of the team’s goals for crying out loud (51.4%)!

Not to get lost in all of this is the amount of Assists the captain’s put up this season. He now ranks third for post in a single campaign by an Oilers player post Gretzky behind only Doug Weight (79) and Mark Messier (84). He can still break it with an improbable (though not impossible) run down the stretch.

It’s crazy to think what he’ll be able to do once the team gets more talent around him.
