The magic has run out for the Winnipeg Jets.

The organization saw its season come to an end after dropping a fourth consecutive game to the Vegas Golden Knights. The Conference Final appearance marked the furthest the team has gone in franchise history.

Players, coaches, and management were distraught after the loss, and emotionally broke down the results with the media after heading off the ice. Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who was sensational for much of the postseason, insisted the team has “the heart and the character” to win.

The 25-year-old likely isn’t the one that thinks the end results are “crazy”. Winnipeg out-shot Vegas in all but one game and dominated much of the play throughout the five games. But a series of inopportune turnovers and the strong play of Golden Knights Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury ultimately ended up being the difference.

Helle’s words came just two days after he insisted the bounces would start going his team's way. You can’t help but feel bad for the guy after looking back at Friday’s interview.

Hellebuyck is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, but his Vezina-like season is sure to earn him a hefty contract. Winnipeg should once again be considered a contender next season with the American between the pipes.
