It’s rare to see a player given exceptional status at the Junior hockey level. Once it happens, everyone in the hockey community instantly becomes aware of the player’s name and there are expectations that need to be met. Some are able to meet them and others take a little longer to find their game. As for the most recent player tagged with the title?

Yeah, hasn’t taken long for him to find his game at all.

As Elite Prospects’ Cam Robinson noted, Bedard, a 5’10 forward from North Shore, BC, is doing far better in his 15-year-old season so far than some pretty good players before him. These include John Tavares, Shane Wright (from last season), and… Connor McDavid.

Okay, definitely worth noting that he’s only played nine games so far but still, seven goals and 10 assists in that span is nothing to sneeze at. Just look at his first goal!

Sure, you can make the argument that one CHL league is tougher than the other but these stats are pretty bananas. Just a friendly reminder that Bedard was born in 2005(!) and isn’t eligible to get drafted until 2023. Definitely keep an eye on this teen going forward.
