Brouhaha alert!

During Wednesday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Texas Rangers, Matt Kemp had an opportunity to extend the Dodgers' lead to 3-0 if not for a close and physical play at the plate by Robinson Chirinos.

In fact, some may even say that the play shouldn’t have been allowed. Matt Kemp was one of those.

To be fair, you can see in the replay that Chirinos left little room on the basepath for Kemp to get to the plate, which he’s entitled to according to the rules. So, of course, Kemp goes for the body and bowls the catcher over, initiating the kerfuffle.

Benches emptied as about fifty men entered the field for baseball’s routine game of Hold Me Back. It doesn’t compare to this brawl from earlier in the week, when former MLBer Mat Latos body-slammed a guy.

Still, this was a pretty consequential play! Since Kemp was ruled out on the play, the Rangers were able to tie the Dodgers at 2-2 in the fourth inning, and that’s where the score still stands as of the time of writing.
