The UFC is an emotional world, as fighter lay it all on the line to give absolutely everything they’ve got for a shot at glory. For #12 Bantamweight fighter in the organization Cody Stamann, Saturday’s fight was extra emotional.

Stamann was fighting just a week and a half since finding out that he’d lost his brother Jacob. Just 18-years-old, Jacob was Cody’s “biggest fan”, the unimaginable tragedy left Cody with a big decision.

Do you still fight?

Cody chose to honour his brother by doing what he believe Jacob “would want him to do”. He stepped into the octagon against Brian Kelleher and delivered a very complete performance that went the distance. When the final horn sounded and Cody officially secured the win, all the emotions he’d been holding in came pouring out.

After his hand had been raised, an overwhelmed Stamann found the strength to share an interview with Joe Rogan. By the sound of Rogan’s voice, it had the longtime UFC announcer moved nearly to tears.

Cody’s performance was definitely something to be proud of, what better way to honour your brother than to deliver a bout like that.
