Former WWE wrestler CM Punk is well-known for his vocal support of the Chicago Blackhawks over the years, and he’s given his thoughts on the team time and time over again.
This time, on a recent radio appearance, Punk decided to turn his attention to unhappy Blackhawks fans, who have been disgruntled with the team’s decision to rebuild.

The Blackhawks recently released a statement to season-ticket holders announcing their intentions to rebuild, and while fans aren’t happy to hear the decision, Punk feels the team was left in a ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ situation with their fans.

“If they release a statement, they are mad, if they don't release a statement, they are mad,” said Punk. “Nobody hates the Blackhawks more than Blackhawks fans, especially the fans that just jumped on that wagon right around the time Stan Bowman became the general manager."

Fans are never going to be happy when their teams have to rebuild, but there’s something to be said for knowing when to rebuild as a team instead of treading water in mediocrity for years.

The Blackhawks have lost two significant members of their championship teams from the early 2010s this offseason, trading Brandon Saad and allowing Corey Crawford to walk in free agency.

However, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Kane have three more years left on their contract, while Brent Seabrook has four more years. It’ll be interesting to see what their role with the team will look like going forward.
