When the Cleveland Browns drafted Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick on Thursday night, they selected him over a number of other quarterbacks ranked highly in the predraft process, such as Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Josh Rosen.
One local radio host in Cleveland named Aaron Goldhammer had apparently hoped that his team would draft one of those other quarterbacks, and in fact, was so certain of it that he made an on-air promise to, uhh... Well, just see for yourself.
Talk about a Cleveland brown! (We are so, so, so sorry.)
Now look, we’ve all made some ridiculous jokes in the “if x happens, I’ll do y” format, but this is just vile. Word is bond, but does anyone even want to see this happen?
Hopefully for Browns fans, the Mayfield pick can prove to be a reversal of their fortunes at their quarterback position. Even Mayfield, in what should’ve been a celebratory moment after being made the first pick in the draft, was quickly made the recipient of Browns jokes from Jimmy Kimmel.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like we can count Goldhammer among his believers, so... yeah, there’s no bright side here. Sorry, my guy. Just another day in the life of a Browns fan!
