A few years ago Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis was considered to be one of the best sluggers in baseball. However, ever since the 33-year-old received a 7-year, $161 million contract from the O’s in 2016 he hasn’t come close to being the same player he was once.
Davis is coming off his worst year of his career and things haven’t looked like they’re going to turn around anytime soon. During Wednesday night’s game, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was not happy with Davis’ effort and reached his breaking point in the team’s dugout, and whatever was said made the two-time MLB home run leader absolutely snap.
Davis tried to go after Hyde to let him know how he felt about his comments but had to be held back by Mark Trumbo and hitting coach Don Long before he eventually cooled down.
Through 83 games this season Davis is hitting .183 with a .270 OBP to go with nine home runs and 31 RBI, and there's still another three years on his deal.
