This year, the Vegas Golden Knights will play in their inaugural season in the NHL and their first regular season on October 6th will be historical to say the least.
The NHL now has 31 teams and with the addition of the Golden Knights, fans are now wondering which city will inhabit the next new franchise and when that day will come.
Obviously Quebec is one location that fans want to see hockey return to, but Seattle is up there, too, and Tuesday a major announcement was made that could increase the chances of Seattle getting an NHL team in the future.
For those still a little confused about what exactly is going on, this video should clear up any questions:
In short, there is a proposal to renovate KeyArena in the hopes of luring an NHL and NBA team to Seattle, and although the final version of the agreement won't be voted on for months, this is a significant step forward.
As you saw in the video above, there are some pictures that have come out that show what the arena could look like, and by all accounts it looks rather spectacular.
The new arena could be NHL-ready by 2020, so in the near future Seattle could have an NHL team if everything goes according to plan. This deal is another step in that plan.
