It didn’t take Chase Claypool very long to earn Ben Roethlisberger’s trust.
Through the first six games of his NFL career, the Canadian wide receiver has a team-leading 333 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns, despite ranking 5th in targets and 4th in receptions on the team.
Heading up to the Steelers’ Week 8 battle with the Baltimore Ravens, Michael Irvin joined Rod Smith to discuss the game and happened to say that Claypool is his selection for Rookie of the Year.
A lot of rookies have put together some impressive games through the first seven weeks of the NFL season, but it’s nice to hear one of the best receivers of all-time show the Canadian Claypool some love and respect by adding him to that conversation.
There’s still plenty of games left on the schedule for Claypool to earn Rookie of the Year honours.
