A new wave of Canadian talent has been making their impact felt the NFL, and now, they’re making an impact off the gridiron as well.
In partnership with UNINTERRUPTED Canada, four Canadian NFL players — Chase Claypool, Eli Ankou, Neville Gallimore and Christian Covington — have spoken up for various social justice causes, each player dedicating themselves to a different issue of their choice.
Claypool, one of this year’s rookie sensations as a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, chose to dedicate his video to the importance of speaking about mental health, specifically encouraging athletes to lead the way.
Ankou chose to raise awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada, while Gallimore spoke about the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses. Finally, Covington discussed his experiences with racism and moving forward through the Black Lives Matter movement.
It’s great to see these athletes use their platform for such significant causes, and especially to see young Canadian players do so. We’re excited to see what these players can accomplish on the field over the course of their careers, but also to see how they continue to lead change on social justice causes going forward.
