Wil Myers had a fantastic rookie campaign for the Tampa Bay Rays. In 373 plate appearances in 88 games, Myers recorded 13 home runs and 53 RBI to go along with a .293 batting average and a .354 OBP. However, after taking a step backwards in his sophomore season, the Rays shipped Myers off to the San Diego Padres in a three-team trade and they’re probably regretting it now.
A few weeks ago, Myers told the Charlotte Checkers that he thinks baseball is harder than hockey. Well, the Checkers decided to put the Padres’ outfielder to the test and he found out hockey is a lot harder than it looks.
Members of the Checkers also put their baseball skills to the test, and it was safe to say no one was able to transfer their talents from one sport to the other.
Myers’ first season was cut short to 60 games due to multiple injuries, but he bounced back in his first full season with the Padres by making his first All-Star team with 28 home runs, 94 RBI and 28 stolen bases in 157 games to go along with a .259 batting average and a .336 OBP.
