The Humboldt Broncos return to the ice tonight to open their 2018-2019 season, and the entire nation has rallied behind them to show its support.
Ahead of their Wednesday night matchup against the Nipawin Hawks, the team they were set to play the night of the crash April 6th, the Broncos received an outpouring of well wishes on social media. This outpouring included a heartfelt gesture from the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who left a stick outside their dressing room to show their support ahead of tonight’s game.
This isn’t the first time that the Canadian Football League has made its unwavering support for the Broncos and the community of Humboldt apparent.
Earlier this season, the Saskatchewan Roughriders hosted a #HumboldtStrong game on June 30th, where they hosted surviving Broncos players, families, billets, and Humboldt first responders. The team sported “Humboldt Strong” Stickers on the back of their helmets, and hosted ceremonies honouring the victims and their families.
It’s evident that beyond the hockey community, the entire country is behind the Broncos for their season opener.
