Ever since goalie masks were introduced to hockey, they’ve been constantly evolvin. We’ve come a long way since Jacques Plante first donned protection for his face, and now goalie masks are seen as a display of style.
From tributes to colour-changing technology, modern goalies take the look of their masks very seriously. Well, at least, most do.
Casey DeSmith was asked about his new mask design, one that features Dwight Schrute during his famous monologue in Season Two’s episode aptly named “Dwight’s Speech.” DeSmith explained that The Office character wasn’t actually his choice, it was Teddy Blueger’s.
Blueger also included his signature on the back, making sure everyone knows just who is responsible for the entertaining bucket! Another alternative element Blueger included was to spell out the number “ONE” instead of simply featuring the singular numerical digit displayed on DeSmith’s jersey.
Overall, we’re big fans of the mask. Anything featuring The Office is A-OK with us!
