A part of what makes us love hockey so much is the special things that players do off the ice.
Carter Hart, the goalie for the Philadelphia Flyers, is only 20 years old, but he’s already cemented himself as one of the nicer guys in the league.
Today, this only became more clear, when the Alberta native returned to Philly for some summer ice and a workout, but also to spend some time with a very special fan.
Brandon Hull is a nine-year-old patient at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who suffered a traumatic accident that resulted in a whopping 13 surgeries and the partial amputation of his foot.Hull is a huge Flyers fan, and not only that, he’s also a goalie himself.
Hart knew he wanted the chance to meet the young netminder, and today, the duo took the ice together in a heartwarming scene.
The two clicked instantly, and Hart said that Hull “told [him] that his favorite thing about being a goalie is when the puck hits his pad and the feeling he gets when the puck hits his pad and makes a save. [He] said 'that's one of the reasons I became a goalie too”.
Hart definitely has an apprentice, and we look forward to seeing Brandon with a Flyers logo on his chest soon.
