Carey price is back between the pipes in Montreal and Canadiens fans couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

After missing time with a lower-body injury, Price returned to the lineup on Saturday night and has been lights out since. After shutting out the Sabres with an incredible 36-save performance, the 30-year-old shut the door again with a 37-save 3-1 win against the Columbus Blue jackets. In his past two games, Price has now stopped 73/74 shots with an unbelievable .986 save percentage.

The stats hardly come as a surprise when you consider what the netminder has been able to accomplish in recent years. In 2015, Price was awarded the Hart Trophy after having one of the greater seasons in recent NHL history. His return could not have come at a better time, as the Canadiens’ season was evidently beginning to slip away.

Fans and other members of the hockey world have already begun expressing their excitement over his stellar return.

Price signed an eight-year/$84 million extension and is starting to play to his value since finalizing the deal. The sample size is small, but it’s encouraging to see that he has been able to excel without any setbacks. Price is undoubtedly the Canadiens’ best player and the organization will need him to continue his hot streak if they hope to have a shot at making the playoffs.

The NHL is far more entertaining with him in action.
