Carey Price continues to leave an imprint on the Montreal Canadiens organization.
With his start against the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Bell Centre, the 30-year-old tied legendary goaltender Jacques Plante for the most starts in franchise history. The start is the 556th of his career.
It’s been a relatively rough year for the netminder, who has managed to start in just 46 games while boasting a 16-24-6 record. His current .902 save percentage is thus far the worst of his career since entering the season in 2007. Still, the start is impressive when you consider the legendary goaltenders who once donned a Habs goaltender. The list includes Plante, Patrick Roy (551), Ken Dryden (397), and Bill Durnan (383) amongst others.

Price is well on his way to breaking a number of other Canadiens records. Heading into tonight’s matchup he ranks third in wins (286), fourth in shutouts (40), and second in minutes played with 32,726.

After signing an eight-year $84 million extension last summer, there’s plenty of time for Price to build on his impressive resume. In 2015, the BC native became the first goaltender to win the Hart Trophy since Jose Theodore in 2004.
