Goalies are a pretty superstitious bunch.
Honestly, hockey players in general are a very superstitious bunch of individuals. The way they do just about everything is pretty much down to a superstitious science, and when things are going well, players don’t generally change anything about their routines until they start to go south and need a shake up.
Especially goalies.
They rarely change anything about their routine, for fear of throwing off any sort of luck or mojo.
Of course, when you’re as good as Carey Price, there’s not really any need for luck.
Price was lights-out in the Stanley Cup Qualifying round, sending home Sid the Kid and the Pittsburgh Penguins before they even knew what him ‘em.
Most goalies wouldn’t change a thing after such a quality performance, but like we said, when you’re as good as Price, there’s no need to worry.
Carey sported a completely new equipment set up at practice, and while changing in the middle of a hot streak is a little bit crazy, the pads are so gorgeous that we completely support the decision.
We’ll see how these pads fare against the Flyers, but we definitely love the look of them no matter what.
