During Wednesday night's Penguins and Capitals game from Washington, the Caps organization donated half of the 50/50 raffle to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh following the tragic shooting that took the lives of eleven people and injured seven more at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
The donation tallied over $19,000 for victims of the families affected by the shooting. The overall jackpot totalled $38,570, meaning the winner collected a cool $19,285.
A season ticket holder happened to win the prize money, but he didn't pocket it.
He actually waived the winning amount to Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation -- the charitable foundation that supports the Capitals and Washington Wizards -- so the entire amount of the 50/50 winnings could be donated to the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh.
What an incredible gesture by Caps fan and the defending Stanley Cup Champions to go beyond the sport.(h/t Washington Capitals)
