Vancouver Canucks fans haven’t had much to cheer about over the past three seasons but they’re hoping 19-year-old Elias Pettersson can turn things around for the organization once he joins the NHL club.
Currently playing in his rookie season in the Swedish Hockey League, last year’s 5th overall pick finished first in the league in scoring with 24 goals and 32 assists for 56 points in 44 games and he’s hoping to carry his hot streak over to the postseason. After registering just one assist in his first three playoff games, the Sundsvall, Sweden native found the back of the net in Game 4 for the Växjö Lakers HC and it was an absolute beauty.
It’s a little hard to tell when watching the video in real time, especially if you blinked, but when you slow it down and watch it from different angles you can see just how awesome the goal truly was as he somehow managed to perfectly place the puck in over the goalie’s shoulder and underneath the crossbar.
Not a bad way to score your first career SHL playoff goal.
