Okay, quickly… without thinking, what are two things you couldn’t live without?

DOGS AND HOCKEY.

Yeah, us too. Unfortunately, the two rarely get to mix. One is a sport, played on ice, in skates and full equipment. The other is an animal.

Saying that, sometimes we are treated to a colliding of worlds. The Vancouver Canucks provided that on Wednesday when six ‘Nucks brought their furry friends to participate in a 2nd intermission race.

They did this same race two weeks ago when Tanner Pearson’s pup Emma was crowned champion. With Emma gone from Wednesday’s field, it was up to returning dogs Gus Horvat and Juice Benn, along with newcomers Georgia Sutter, Coolie Boeser, Donny Virtanen, and Dodger Toffoli to decide who would join Emma atop the “Top Dog” throne.

The drama of dog races will not be matched. Not even by two NHL teams competing for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. TELL ME I’M WRONG.
