Usually in baseball when a pitcher beams a batter, it leads to a fight, or at the very least a verbal confrontation of sorts. Rarely does it lead to a polite moment, but that's what we got Tuesday night in Cincinnati.
In the 6th inning, Wei-Yin Chen of the Marlins plunked Canadian Joey Votto of the Reds. The former MVP might seem intimidating to some, and he probably seemed intimidating to Chen when he took a couple of steps towards the mound, but instead of fighting, he did this:
Is that the most polite reaction to getting hit by a pitch ever? It's definitely up there, and apparently good things come to those who are polite because the very next batter for the Reds hit a three-run bomb.
The Reds went on to pick up their second win of the season by a score of 14-0.
