Dillon Brooks made his presence known in the basketball world last March when he led the Oregon Ducks to their second-ever Final Four appearance (First in the current 64-team format) and he gained a lot of fans from that showcase of talent.

Brooks has been a consistent part of the Memphis Grizzlies lineup this year and he’s brought some extra supporters to their fan base from his Oregon days. One family of fans that became Grizzlies fans stood out more than the rest. Dillon posted an Instagram video with a caption explaining that Shane and Tina Burney sent brooks a DM asking if they could bring their son to a Grizzlies game.

They continued to explain, that there son Jerimicah – who has his hair cut just like Brooks’ – has Williams syndrome, a developmental disorder that affects many parts of the body. Brooks brought them out to their first NBA game and the video shows just how much it meant to them as a family.

A few months ago, I got a DM from Shane and Tina Burney (@shaneandtinaburney ) asking if they could bring their son, Jerimicah (@jmicah256 ) to a Grizzlies game. Jerimicah has Williams syndrome, which is a developmental disorder that affects many parts of his body and I just happened to be his favourite NBA player. He even got a haircut that looks just like mine 👌🏾. This past weekend I invited the whole family to our game vs the Denver Nuggets. They drove 2.5 hrs from Tuscumbia , Alabama to cheer us on. We ended our losing streak that day due to their loud cheers, here is a recap of their first experience at a @memgrizz game at the @fedex forum. Thanks to @rozaaymgmt and @julianharper_ for putting this together.

This is what sports are all about.

Brooks is representing Canada well on and off the court. He started the season by setting a record for most points scored by a Canadian in their NBA debut (Putting up a 19-5-2-4-2 line) and will be a big part of the Grizzlies moving forward.

He’ll be one of many names to watch out for as Canadians continue to make their mark on the basketball world. No matter where he’s playing, we’re pretty sure Brooks has made a fan for life in Jerimicah.
