Chuba Hubbard has made quite the name for himself across the football community this season.
Entering Friday night’s contest against Texas A&M, the Sherwood Park, Alberta native had a league-high 1,936 rushing yards with a very good chance of hitting the 2,000-yard mark on the season. Well, the sophomore running back didn’t even need the entire game to get those yards as he hit the 2,000-yard plateau before halftime.
Hubbard compiled 78 rush yards in the first half, making him just the third player in Big 12 history to rush for 2,000 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns or more in a single season, joining Ricky Williams and Troy Davis Jr.
By hitting the 2,000-yard mark, Hubbard also becomes just the 32nd running back in college football history to do so, and he got some praise from Barry Sanders, who happens to hold the record for most rushing yards in a single college season with 2,850 yards and is the only other Oklahoma State Cowboy to accomplish the feat.
If you didn’t know Chuba Hubbard’s name at the beginning of the season, you certainly know it by now and you’re going to want to remember it.
