Baseball is a weird sport. For most of the game, things are pretty calm, and everybody is having fun. Then an umpire misses a call and all hell breaks loose.
Even in the major leagues, things have calmed down a little bit with video review. There are far fewer blatant mess ups by umpires so managers don’t have much reason to scream at them inches away from their face. Minor league and amateur baseball doesn’t have that same luxury.
For example, when something went wrong in this Western Major Baseball League game, the Okotoks Dawgs’ manager absolutely lost his mind.
The Dawgs were facing off against the Edmonton Prospects and after the prospects notched two runs in the eighth inning, he apparently just started whipping chairs. Even from this other angle, there really is no explanation as to why the tantrum went down.
Canadian baseball is more like hockey than we thought…
