German powerhouse Bayern Munich welcomed Canadian sensation Alphonso Davies to the pitch for the first time on Sunday in the finals of the Telekom Cup against Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Davies' Bayern debut came with a trophy celebration, as the club won 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the four-team tournament that consists of each playing a pair of 45-minute matches.
The 18-year-old was in the starting lineup and managed to play the entire match. Though he didn't hit the scoresheet, Davies dazzled with beautiful nutmeg, as highlighted below by Bayern's English Twitter account.
Late in the finals match, Davies nearly drew a penalty as he was taken down in the box.
The former Vancouver Whitecap did not suit up for the semi-final match against Fortuna Dusseldorf. The one-day friendly tournament was played during the Bundesliga's winter break. Regular play will resume this Friday, meaning Davies could make his official league debut when Bayern heads to Hoffenheim.
The Canadian male player of the year in 2018, who grew up in Edmonton, signed a deal with Bayern last summer in a transfer agreement between the Whitecaps that has the potential to reach $20 million.
