For the first time in 34 years the Canadian men’s national soccer team has defeated the United States thanks to a 2-0 victory at BMO Field on Tuesday night.

The two sides were held scoreless in the first half of play, but the Canadians came out firing in the second half of play and they broke open the scoring with a goal from Alphonso Davies.

There was still a chance for the Americans to even the score, but thanks to a late goal in stoppage time from Lucas Cavallini the Canadians secured the victory and their first win over the US in nearly three and a half decades.

With it being a rare win over a rival and on home soil, too, Canadian sports fans were quick to congratulate the team and show them some love.

It’s not every day Canada beats USA in men’s soccer, so there were plenty of celebratory messages to go around.

Anything is possible.
