The NHL is BACK!
Well, almost. Just a few more hours until the puck finally drops on a highly anticipated 2019-20 season. With tons of movement among players, as well as young players rapidly developing, it's anyone's guess how this season could go.
To hype us up a little more (as if we needed it), NHL on NBC put together a cartoon reminding us of all the stories, nuances, and quirks that each team has going on.
The illustration features one player from each team, and the whole thing is full of hidden messages.
At first glance, a few things immediately stand out. First of all, the flashy trophies sitting on Nikita Kucherov's desk. While the Hart and the Art Ross catch the eye, the Stanley Cup in Professor O'Reilly's mitts is even more noticeable.
Other elements that you may immediately notice could be Detroit's famous octopus, Jack Eichel crushing a dish of Buffalo wings, or Claude Giroux rocking a Gritty lunch box.
Look a little closer and you can decipher even more going on. Connor McDavid sitting with a Wayne Gretzky Oilers jersey next to him, Marc-Andre Fleury brought a bunch of flowers in his bag. P.K. Subban appears to be on the phone with new fiance Lindsey Vonn, while Brad Marchand continues his ways as the league pest.
Is Mathew Barzal holding a razor? What is the note that Blake Wheeler is passing Sebastian Aho? AN OFFER SHEET?!!
Tyler Seguin appears to be the class rebel, and the three Maritimes boys are all hanging out at the top, but our favourite part of this whole image - Kaapo Kakko loves New York. Actually, scratch that. Phil Kessel with the Snapchat hot dog!
Anything else you can spot?
