The Battle of Alberta has been must-watch hockey. Especially after their most recent game on Saturday night that saw an epic brawl that included a goalie fight. That’s right, Mike Smith and Cam Talbot dropped the gloves at center ice and let each other have it.
Mike Smith definitely won the contest, but Talbot didn’t back down from the fight. During the Flames’ media availability on Monday, Talbot discussed how the bout with Mike Smith started.
Respect to Talbot for answering the bell knowing that he’d probably be on the losing end of the fight. If not for Darnell Nurse, the goalie fight that got everyone hyped up might not have even happened.
Although Talbot is all laughs about it now, the rivalry between the Flames and the Oilers is intense. The two teams have one more regular season meeting on April 4th.
