Colorado Avalanche fans have to be happy with the future of their team.

Just one year after the Avs' worst season ever since moving to Colorado, the team is right in the thick of the playoff race in the West as they are one point back of the Ducks for the final Wild Card spot.

Even if the Avalanche don't make the playoffs, the franchise is in good hands going forward thanks to guys like Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, Mikko Rantanen, Erik Johnson, and Tyson Barrie among others.

Furthermore, Colorado has a number of talented players in their system that figure to be key contributors in the future.  One of those players is 2018 first-round pick Cale Makar.

The 19-year-old is playing in his first season with UMass Amherst and Thursday night, he showed why the Avalanche selected him 4th overall as he went end-to-end and undressed a defender en route to a spectacular goal.

It's okay to get excited Avalanche fans because this kid looks like the real deal.
Makar showed his tremendous potential during the World Juniors in Buffalo, but if his highlights from that tournament didn't get fans excited for his future, his goal against Vermont probably did.
