The Chicago Bulls selected Derrick Rose with the 1st overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and he did not disappoint as he averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game and won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

Rose backed up his impressive debut season with even better years the next two and a half seasons, but suffered a setback after suffering multiple major injuries. After bouncing around the NBA for a few years, Rose started looking like his former self last season and he’s continued that early on this season.

On Friday night, the Detroit Pistons were in Chicago for a tilt with the Bulls and when Rose checked into the game in the first quarter he got an incredible ovation from the Bulls faithful.

The Chicago native played seven seasons with his hometown Bulls and averaged 19.7 points, 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game in 406 games and the fans made sure to welcome back one of their favourite players with MVP chants.

It’s great to see the Bulls fans still show D-Rose love when he comes back to town.
