In just the fourth game of the 2019 season, former Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper made his anticipated return to D.C. on Tuesday night.

Following a brief rain delay, Harper was not only hit with literal rain, but a rain of boos when he walked from the on-deck circle into the batter's box.

After battling back from an 0-2 count, Harper struck out on a 2-2, 85-mph off-speed pitch from former teammate Max Scherzer.

Fans speculated that Harper would receive more of a mixed bag of cheers and jeers, but that wasn't really the case, as the fans inside Nationals Park were not thrilled to see Harper depart for Philadelphia on a 13-year, $330,000,000 contract.

The Nationals summed up Harper's time in Washington and at-bat with the two perfect pop culture references.
