The Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs are two of the most passionate franchises in the NHL. From the media, to the organizations, to the fans – Boston and Toronto breathe hockey, through and through. One hockey head coming out of Massachusetts is Bruins commentator Jack Edwards, who has become recognizable from his passionate, Boston-centric commentating that always seems to rub opposing fans the wrong way.
On Monday, Edwards flashed a little bit of his passion for the B’s when a play near the beginning of the 3rd period in a one-goal game may have cost his team a chance on the rush. The play was blown dead because of Andreas Johnsson appearing to have sustained a knee injury on the play.
Leafs Nation would respond by noting that Johnsson was only down on the play because Brad Marchand, who has become known for this kind of thing, took out Johnsson on a weird looking tumble. Overall, the play was blown dead at a strange time, but both sides of the equation likely had reason to be upset.
Hard to know what’s right if you’re an official sometimes. Edwards would go on to say how ridiculous it is that they would blow the play dead at all "for a guy who's still conscious” in a playoff game.
