The Hockey Hall of Fame is all about honouring legends, and the 2018 class of inductees featured a couple Martin’s that changed the game in very different ways.

Martin St. Louis revolutionized what it meant to be an NHLer. The 5’8 forward proved that size isn’t everything in the NHL, and that with enough heart and grit that anyone can play. He has paved the way for similarly smaller guys like Johnny Gaudreau to become threats on the ice. Oh, on top of that he rqacked up 1,033 points in 1,134 games, along with a Stanley Cup victory in 2004 as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Martin Brodeur still stands in most people’s minds as a top-3 goaltender of all-time, if not higher. The longtime New Jersey Devils goalie holds a lot of goaltender records, including some as prestigious as Wins (691), Shutouts (125), and Games Played (1,266). He’s the only goalie to have eight 40-win seasons, and he also had a streak of 12 consecutive 30-win seasons. He won the Stanley Cup three times with the Devils, as well as two Olympic Gold Medals for Canada.

On Friday, ahead of this year’s Hall of Fame game between the Devils and the Toronto Maple Leafs, TSN’s James Duthie caught up with the two NHL legends to talk about some of their career highlights, and the honour of being inducted.

The two legends are both first-ballot Hall of Famers, and deservingly so.
