Brock Boeser must have felt some relief after signing on with the Canucks on a new three-year deal. As relieving as the bridge deal worth $5.875 million AAV is to get out of the way before regular season action rolls around, it’s nothing compared to the relief him and his family have felt as his father Duke makes progress in his battle with cancer.
Already diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in 2010, the elder Boeser battled with lung cancer in 2017. A couple years later, and the cancer returned, even contributing to a blood clot back in July that almost proved fatal.
On Wednesday, Brock discussed his father’s condition with the media. Through teary eyes, he explains the tough four weeks his father spent in the ICU, and how his recovery is looking a little better these days.
Whether you’re a Canucks fan or not, we’re all on Boeser’s side on this one.
