As the old saying goes, “always the bridesmaid, never the bride.” When it comes to the Tim Hortons Brier, that statement perfectly aligns with Brendan Bottcher’s team over the past three events.
Representing Team Alberta twice and Team Wild Card once, a foursome made up of Darren Moulding, Brad Thiessen, Karrick Martin, and skipper Brendan Bottcher has finished with a silver medal three years in a row. Instead of claiming the Canadian Championship, Bottcher and company have watched the likes of Brad Gushue, Kevin Koe, and their teams celebrate gold.
On Sunday, Bottcher once again found himself in the semifinal. Making it back to the Final was proving to be difficult however, as Team Saskatchewan sat one point up heading into the 10th.
Needing a clutch rock, Bottcher delivered this absolute gem of a shot.
Bottcher’s final rock punched Team Alberta’s ticket to the Final. Waiting for them there is a familiar foe in Kevin Koe.
