Baseball is a game of routine. While crazy things can happen, there’s a lot of games that go by with players pulling off the exact same swings, pitches, and slides that they always do. The Atlanta Braves game against the Colorado Rockies on Monday was not one of those.

Francisco Cervelli made sure of that.

The veteran catcher made an extremely odd slide into 2nd after knocking a ball to the right field wall. Clearly extremely riled up for his double, Cervelli went airborn in what looked like a karate kick. The problem was he came down on the base very hard, in a very scary looking manner.

What'd that base do to you, Francisco?! . (🎥: Twitter/Cut4)

Ouch… Now everyone give your ankles a little stretch. We don’t want any injuries here, people!

Cervelli was alright, and stayed in the game. He likely won’t be making a slide like that anytime soon, especially since he’s now 33 years old.
