One of the many things hockey fans have learnt about Brady Tkachuk during his rookie campaign is that he loves making the game of hockey fun.
Even in the midst of a dreadful 2018-19 Senators season, the 19-year-old can usually be found with a smile on his face (when he’s not dropping the mitts with an opponent) and most of all, chirping left right and centre on the ice. Last night’s game against the Calgary Flames was no exception, as it presented him with his second opportunity of the year to square off against his brother Matthew. Ottawa fell 4-1 to Calgary but you better believe Brady still managed to get the last word in.
The Flames held a 3-1 lead late in the third until the older Tkachuk managed to extend the margin to 5-1 with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, marking his second garbage goal in as many games. His previous marker came on an empty-netter against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a home win on Tuesday night. Asked after the game about the goal, Brady admitted he’s Matthew’s biggest fan but just had to point out it was his second irrelevant goal in as many games.
Gotta pad those stats eh Matty?! Lookin' like a try-hard in beer league scoring the fifth goal in a 5-1 win late in the third!
The Boston University product just seemed happy to be playing his bro last night and his excitement was on full display ahead of the game in warm-ups. Brady spotted a Sens fan rocking his jersey at the Saddledome so what did he decided to do with him? Just a little flossing before puck-drop, not a big deal. Couldn’t have been a more millennial moment but hey, turns out both he and the fan can move pretty well.
Through two games this season, the Flames have won both but each brother has managed to notch a goal in their series. We’re dreaming of the day these dudes square off in a Stanley Cup Final because something great seems to happen every time they hit the ice together.
