We have to give props to Bradley Beal... and condolences too, we guess.
Coming off a back-to-back set against the Chicago Bulls and the Milwaukee Bucks (!!!), Bradley Beal became the first player to hit the 50-point mark in consecutive games since Kobe Bryant in 2007 — especially poetic since Beal managed the feat on February 24th, the day of Kobe and Gianna’s public memorial.
Even more impressive is that Beal managed the feat across consecutive nights, especially with having to face an elite Bucks defence on the second night of the back-to-back after already going off again the Bulls.
Unfortunately for Beal, both of those games were still losses for the Washington Wizards. He scored 53 against the Bulls and then followed it up with 55 against the Bucks the next night, but instead of giving the Wiz a needed push in the East playoff race, he instead becomes the first NBA player to score 50-plus on back-to-back nights... and lose both games.
Beal was one of the most hotly contested All-Star snubs this year — he’s second in scoring this season with 30.1 points per game, but the argument against him is his team’s 20-36 record. His back-to-back 50-point performances in Wiz losses is the perfect microcosm of that.
Hey, at least the highlights are exciting.
