The Toronto Raptors found themselves in a bit of a situation before Friday night’s game against the Houston Rockets as Nick Nurse and five members of the coaching staff were ruled out due to health concerns.

It didn’t take very long for the team to announce who would be filling in for Nurse and his staff, but some fans quickly thought about Kyle Lowry making his player-coaching debut. Turns out they weren’t the only ones who thought that.

While speaking to the media ahead of the contest, Raptors general manager Bobby Webster mentioned that he had spoken to both Lowry and Fred VanVleet about the possible option of them filling in as player-coaches for the evening.

Obviously we didn’t get to see it in this unusual situation, but just a reminder that anything can happen these days.
