Bill Belichick isn’t used to losing, so it wasn’t surprising to see him keep things short during the coach’s handshake following the Pats’ 28-22 loss at the hands of the Texans. But this one seemed particularly different, especially since it came against his disciple Bill O’Brien.

NBC’s camera showed O’Brien searching for his former boss, before finally finding him and exchanging the shortest shake imaginable. Belichick barely even looked at him before making his way off the field.

Sunday night marked the first time O’Brien managed to defeat Belichick since taking over as the Texans’ head coach in 2014. O’Brien worked with Belichick in New England as an offensive assistant in 2007, wide receivers coach in 2008, quarterbacks coach from 2009-10 and offensive coordinator in 2011. The Texans improved to 8-4 with the win while the Patriots dropped their second loss of the season and fell out of the AFC’s top spot.

Some handshakes are brief and some… well, they’re a little more energetic. Who could forget Jim Harbaugh’s not-so-humble exchange with Jim Schawartz?

Be cool man, be cool!

Don’t expect much more of a pleasant exchange if the Patriots find a way to lose to the Texans in the playoffs.
