The Saints have suffered heartbreaking playoff loses in back-to-back seasons, but the one to the Rams less than a week ago was the worst of the two because of one no-call.
Yes we're talking about the pass interference penalty which should have been called that wasn't and although Sean Payton said the league admitted they got the call wrong, we haven't seen an official statement from the NFL or Roger Goodell.
Saints tight end Benjamin Watson isn't giving up on getting something out of Goodell, though. Thursday night, he tweeted this emotional note at to the commissioner of the league.
As Adam Schefter said, Watson is one of the most respected players in the league and his words carry a lot of weight. While some will view his message to Goodell as "whining" or "complaining," it seems like it's very clearly all about accountability.
The fact that the NFL hasn't even issued a statement and it's been almost a week since the game was played is very surprising.
If it's any consolation, the NFL said it would consider allowing non-calls like that to be challenged going forward, but a statement of some kind is what everyone is waiting on, for closure if anything at all.
