On Wednesday, 12 people were killed in a fatal shooting at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California.
Before the Los Angeles Clippers play in a Saturday home game against the Milwaukee Bucks, both teams took a unified stance against the shooting with shirts that declare ‘ENOUGH’ with each victim’s name on the back.
This follows after a similar tribute by the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, and members of the Kings such as Jake Muzzin and team president Luc Robitaille have also spoken out about taking direct action, instead of the purely symbolic, to affect change in their community. (Likewise, the NBA has long encouraged commnity outreach and for each team to create positive social change.)
"I think at some point we all looked at each other and said: 'It's enough.' We've got to stop the violence. It's not enough for every sports organization to just do a moment of silence. We need to do more," said Robitaille to reporters before Thursday’s Kings game.
