We’ve witnessed some crazy upsets over the years at the March Madness tournament, but none of them compare to the one that just took place between UMBC and Virginia as a No. 16 seed eliminated a No. 1 seed in the opening round for the first time in tournament history.
Considering Virginia entered the tournament as one of the best programs in the entire nation and UMBC had never won a NCAA tournament game before, it’s safe to say that a good majority of brackets are officially ruined after UMBC’s historic victory over the Cavaliers and the reactions to the game were all over the board.
If there’s one thing in particular we’ve learned from sports it’s that any team can win on any given day.
