If you haven’t heard by now, this winter is shaping up to be quite the offseason in baseball. While it’s not going to reach the levels of what goes down during the summer months in the world of the NBA, the notions of Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Clayton Kershaw, Josh Donaldson and Charlie Blackmon all switching addresses presents a winter of intrigue.
Harper, who’s currently in one of the worst slumps of his career, decided to “shave” things up by parting ways with his signature beard ahead of the Nationals series opener against the Yankees in the Bronx.
The Yankees, of course, are one of the teams rumored to go after Harper if he’s unable to re-sign with the Nats.
So, in true internet fashion, baseball fans decided to jump the gun and automatically assume Harper is getting ready to join the Yankees, who infamously have a “no-beard policy.” Never mind that Harper is batting .217 on the season, or that he's hitting .198 since the start of May. Nope. He’s coming to the Big Apple.
Just imagine a lineup of Stanton, Judge, Harper, Sanchez, Gregorius, Torres and Andujar. My goodness.
They’ll be the Golden State Warriors of the MLB.
