The Toronto Maple Leafs have lived up to expectations through their first five games of the season as they’ve recorded a league-high 25 goals and have four players ranked in the top five for most points in the league. Two of the players leading the way, as expected, are Auston Matthews and John Tavares, who have combined for 15 goals and 22 points in just five games.
During their impressive start of the season, and even leading up to the season, the players were asked many, many questions about Tavares and what he can bring to the table with his new club. Now that we’re five games into the season you would think that people have asked everything they need to ask about the addition of Tavares by now, but that wasn’t the case following Thursday night’s victory.
Matthews was asked if there’s anything new he’s learned about John Tavares through the first five games and got right to the point with his answer.
“I have answered that question about 30 times so you can go back and findone of my answers.”
You can’t blame Matthews for being over the whole answering questions about John Tavares thing, especially since the 21-year-old leads the league in goals (9) and is tied with teammate Morgan Rielly for first in points (12).
