It doesn’t take much for a star athlete to make the day of their fans, so it’s always nice to see players spread the joy through simple gestures. Auston Matthews is no stranger to that.

On Wednesday, one Leafs fan reached out with an unfortunate story of his nephew Clyde. According to the tweet, the young Leafs superfan couldn’t attend a Leafs game he had tickets for. He was supposed to make the trip to Winnipeg for the game, but unfortunately cancer got in the way.

The fan gently asked if Auston Matthews could shout the kid out. After about seven hours, the Leafs star responded.

It didn’t take long for the uncle to get back.

Could this story have been weaved together by our own James Duthie? Perhaps!
