Sad, sad day for Arsenal fans. After 27 years, Jerry Quy is unfortunately being forced to hang up the big, green suit.

The Premier League’s dinosaur mascot, Gunnersaurus, was fired from the team on Monday. The absence of fans at games due to the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the teams revenue making it no longer necessary to have him working during the games. In August, Arsenal announced that they were planning to cut 55 jobs due to the damage in revenue the pandemic has created.

Gunnersaurus has become a huge part of the team's history over the years, since his debut in 1993. The news drew a ton of criticism on social media.

The mascot was extremely popular and loved by many fans and personnel. Even famous figures around the league have spoken out on this unfortunate loss.

Gunnersaurus out, Thomas Partey in. The news came the same day the club dropped Β£45 000 000 ($70 million roughly) by signing the Atletico Madrid midfielder.

As a result, a go fund me page has been created in order to support the clubs beloved mascot.

Hopefully Gunnersaurus will be able to return when fans are allowed back inside Emirates Stadium.
